Signals Vol 7. Chicagodeep

What went into making this mix?

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon in Chicago, and I felt like creating a mix that went well with this weather. I wanted to create a deep house mix that was not so much of the same artists we hear on mix tapes. I dug deep into my collection to find records that are great to me, and felt needed to be heard. I always hear many mixes with the same producers, but I wanted to do something different. I always make mixes live with one take. I don’t rehearse it all, I feel that takes the fun part away from it. I just like to go with the flow and see what comes out of it while digging in my collection.

What is new on the horizon for Chicagodeep as well as Perpetual Rhythms?

I have some new upcoming projects coming up soon from a label out of Mexico called Short Attention, and more music from Diego Perrison label Fundamental Recordings. At this moment I started to go back to school and finish my degree, right now that’s what my priority is at the moment.

Perpetual Rhythms will see later this year another E.P. from Warren Harris AKA Hanna. We are hoping this will be out before the holidays this year. I also will present a solo project on the label early next year, and a highly demand repress of PERP001.

Victor Aguinaga AKA Chicagodeep, born and raised on the southside of Chicago.

He was introduced to House music back in the early 90’s listening to various radio stations across the city and recording the mixes. At the age of 14 he required his first DJ setup and started to practice daily till he perfected the art. In 2013 Victor & his label partner Nick Marshall established their own label called Perpetual Rhythms.
